Me and My Carrots

These are my babes. I planted their seeds in September. Took six months to get this point. My last harvest in December was too early for them. As you can see they are look like more real carrots.

They are quite big. There are some big ones, they are about same size as my foot.

This is a Weka. One of the New Zealand original bird who can not fly.

Mission complete. Running again.

Very cheeky Wekas. They are friendly and cute. Everyone seems feeding them.

But, don't feed wild animals!!

A fresh Cicada. There were three of them hatched inside but outer layer of our tent. What an unfortunate we put our tent right on top of them when they are ready to malt after long sleep (2 to 5 years). I am sorry for inconvenience.

New Zealand cicadas are as noisy as Japanese ones. But it may little a bit less noisier than Japanese ones?? I thought there are cicadas everywhere in the world. But David didn't know about them. When we were living in Japan David often asked me about the noise comes from forest nearby our flat we used to live. But I wasn't sure which noise was he talking about as we have quite huge range of very noisy creatures during summertime. But now I know this is the only one making nasty?? noise.

They are green. It might be because new born. Some of them on the tree were brown so I thought it might changes colours. But it possible different type. Acorn to wikipedia, there are no cicadas in European countries. Some places has some but they are not as noticeable as they are in here and Japan. They normally live in tropical climates. That's why David didn't know about them.
